Help with energy costs

If you are struggling to pay for gas or electricity, we may be able to help.

Horsham Matters can provide fuel vouchers to help top up prepayment gas or electric meters. This support is means-tested, and you will need to provide evidence of need.

We know energy worries can be incredibly stressful. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

How it works

Horsham Matters provides limited fuel vouchers ( via the Fuel Bank Foundation) to help people who are struggling to top up their gas or electricity. These vouchers help cover short‑term fuel costs so households can stay connected and warm.

The vouchers are usually issued when someone cannot afford to top up their prepayment meter for gas and/or electricity.

They are meant as emergency support only, not long‑term assistance. Only up to three emergency fuel vouchers can be issued every six months for a household in need.

Eligibility

You’ll need to be in crisis or unable to afford fuel top‑ups.

Horsham Matters requires proof of income- in a form of a full recent bank statement, ID, proof of address.

Assessment

The team will assess your circumstances and, if eligible, issue a fuel voucher. This is usually done as a code that can be redeemed with a retailer that accepts Fuel Bank vouchers (e.g., at a PayPoint/PayZone location) to top up your energy.

Redemption

You use the voucher code at a retailer or designated fuel outlet that accepts Fuel Bank vouchers. (Different schemes vary slightly in where and how the voucher is redeemed.)
