Community support and advice

Our goal is not just to respond to crisis, but to end the need for foodbanks altogether by tackling the root causes of hardship.

Our friendly and knowledgeable advisors offer confidential, practical support to help you regain control of your situation, including:

  • Maximising income
  • Reviewing household spending
  • Working towards a sustainable budget
  • Benefits checks to ensure you are receiving what you’re entitled to
  • Signposting to other services

We aim to help Horsham District residents maximise their income, making a real difference to household stability.

Find out what benefits you could receive

Understanding benefits can feel confusing, and many people don’t realise they may be entitled to financial support.

To help, Horsham Matters has created a set of simple guides explaining some of the most common benefits available. These guides outline who each benefit is for, what support it provides, and how you can apply.

Use the buttons below to open the guides and learn more about the help that may be available to you.

Support on the Move

In 2024, we launched our Support on the Move advice vehicle to bring face-to-face support directly into communities across Horsham District. The vehicle travels to surrounding villages on a fortnightly schedule.

Support available includes:

  • Housing advice
  • Utilities support
  • Budgeting help
  • Benefits and debt advice

Connecting Cafés

Our community cafés in Roffey and Pulborough are warm, friendly places to meet new people and get a nutritious meal, with no charge if you are facing hardship.

At the café visitors come together over a meal, increasing their social networks and confidence. Alongside this, the café provides visitors with the opportunity to chat to the advice and advocacy support staff at Horsham Matters. Our advice staff can provide help with budgeting, benefits checks and applications, housing, signposting to other impactful services and referrals such as debt support.
