The shop that runs on kindness: Why volunteers are the heart of Love it Again

Tracy on the till of the love it again shop

Tracy is the shop manager at Love it Again, our charity shop here in Horsham, and she knows better than anyone what keeps the place running. Recently, we sat down with her to talk about something close to all of our hearts at Horsham Matters, the incredible volunteers who make Love it Again possible.

Because the truth is, without them, the shop simply couldn’t open its doors. We’ve popped her video below, and if you haven’t met Tracy before, you’re in for a treat!

In it, she speaks with real warmth and honesty about something we at Horsham Matters feel deeply: that Love it Again would simply not be able to open its doors without the incredible people who give their time to make it happen. The shop doesn’t run on stock or tills or opening hours…it runs on people. Generous, kind, community-minded people who show up and make a difference just by being there.

As Tracy puts it so well, volunteers aren’t just helpful they’re essential. Every shift covered, every customer welcomed, every donated item sorted and placed on the shelves, it all happens because someone chose to give a little of their time. That’s something worth celebrating!

But this post isn’t just about saying thank you to the volunteers we already have, wonderful as they are. It’s also an open invitation.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, or if you’re looking for something meaningful to do with a few hours a week, Love it Again could be exactly the place for you. Whether you’re retired, between jobs, a student, or simply someone who wants to feel more connected to their community there’s a place for you here. Tracy’s message is simple: just pop in for a chat, any time, and she’ll tell you everything you need to know.

It really is as easy as that.

Love it Again is more than a shop. It’s part of the wider Horsham Matters family, and every penny it raises goes back into supporting people in our community who need it most. So when you volunteer there, you’re not just helping keep the lights on. You’re part of something much bigger.

We hope you enjoy hearing from Tracy as much as we did. And if her words resonate with you, please do take her up on that invitation. Walk in, say hello, and see what it’s all about.

We’d love to have you.
