Hunger Free Future

'The Trussell Trust UK Network provided 2.5million emergency food parcels to people facing crisis between April 2020 and March 2021, 980,000 of these went to children, that's almost two parcels on every average minute.'- The Trussell Trust

We have recently become a 'Pathfinder' foodbank for The Trussell Trust which means we will be trying new ways to meet the needs of our Foodbank users. We will be spending more time with different organizations, politicians, the local and wider community and most importantly the people who use our foodbanks to make sure we can provide the best service possible and find the root cause of foodbank use.

The Trussell Trust launched their ‘Hunger Free Future’ Campaign last November and is now a movement of over 100,000 people. Our foodbank volunteers are playing a vital role and making a difference to the lives of people facing financial crisis in our community. Thank you-we could not deliver our service without you!

But it simply isn’t right that anyone should need to use a foodbank. That’s why we would like to ask you to be an ambassador for Hunger Free Future. There are lots of ways to get involved and help us move towards a more just future. From simply keeping an eye out for and sharing our social media posts, to having conversations around increasing understanding of poverty and ending the stigma around foodbank use, to contacting local and national political representatives. With the local elections on 6th May, now is a great time to contact the West Sussex County Council and Horsham District Council by-election candidates, and ask what actions they will take to end foodbank use.
